Adaptive Bike presented to Jose Alvarado

Variety of Southern Nevada, and The Magic of Learning Children’s Discovery Center Presents Adaptive Bike to Jose Alvarado, Student at Las Vegas, John F. Miller School

WHAT: Variety The Children’s Charity of Southern Nevada is proud to be part of the adaptive bike presentation on behalf of The Magic of Learning Children’s Discovery Center to Jose Alvarado one of the many disable children at the John F. Miller School in Las Vegas. The bike will be presented on June 5th.

Jose Alvarado, is an amazing, six-year-old student from the John F. Miller School. Jose has made great strides in his gross & fine motor and communications skills over the past year. He is now able to wheel himself around the school in a standing wheelchair, feed himself and drink from a cup with minimal assistance. Jose can turn his head when addressed, follow one-step instructions and activate augmented alternative communication devices. This adaptive bike will allow Jose to play outside as well as further develop physical motor skills and endurance as he grows.

Tom and Tess Kelly, The Magic of Learning. “Tess and I have accepted that we can not change the world but we do have the power and ability to help change a child’s life, one child at a time. We got involved with The Magic of Learning a Discovery Center for children ages six weeks to twelve years old as a means to accomplish that goal.  It has been a learning journey for the both of us but we really enjoy the children. We have been fortunate to find and work with Variety of Southern Nevada as our missions coincide. The donation of this bike is only a start and we hope we can continue working with Variety and children in the Las Vegas Valley,” stated Tom Kelly.
